A footer is usually used to display the copyright information, and other links contributing to the website. In my opinion that sounds pretty boring. Why not spice things up a little and make an awesome footer design. With footers the possibilities are endless. You can place Twitter updates, popular post, Last.fm songs, Flickr, outgoing links, friends, and anything else you want.
