The Metro style seems to have become the online rage so I thought I would jump in to the bandwagon by sharing some of the best jQuery metro plugin creations around.
Metro style jQuery UI’s started becoming more popular when Windows Phone 7 came out. Developers embraced the dynamic and clean interface that is focused on content. They then created jQuery navigation menus, preloaders, notifications and metro tile interfaces that emulate the inherent touch and tile user interface that was designed by Microsoft.
When Windows 8 was released, Microsoft strived to generate a UI design that is particularly compatible with mobile devices. Although Metro style also looks perfect on computers, navigation is more straightforward and intuitive on touch screen devices and tablets than on desktop computers. However, this did not prevent developers from taking on the aesthetic and light layout, which concentrates on the magnificence of typography. This resulted to the amazing jQuery metro plugin designs that were created for purposes other than Windows based devices.
